PLAYING TO LEARN assignments
Pick two games you played before and write a review about each of them. Choose one professional and one student made game.
Make sure you include the following points in your reviews:
- Name and purpose of the game Katrina tempest it was made to show a hurricane disaster.
- Describe it from a learner's point of view and a developer’s point of view It was interesting with differinte levels.
- Design Analysis (Does it look good? Does it clearly illustrate the scientific the concept?) It is a 2d platformer but it presents itself like somthing more all and all the graphics are great.
- Usability Analysis (Is it clear what you need to do as a user? Does it work well?) I did not know what to do at first but I figured out to use the spacebar to talk.It works well espesialy the house braking.
- Suggestions for improvement I think it might have needed longer levels and perhaps a boss batel at the end.
- 2-3 things that you would like to learn how to do (in terms of functionality, design or content) I would like to learn how to make the carachters interact with the invierment.
- Name and purpose of the game Supertoaster it was desined to show the effects of globalwarming.
- Describe it from a learner's point of view and a developer’s point of view It helps people learn aboute a disaster.
- Design Analysis (Does it look good? Does it clearly illustrate the scientific the concept?) It looks good but the general concepet was better.
- Usability Analysis (Is it clear what you need to do as a user? Does it work well?) It was uncertain aboute the cars but after dieing twice you soon learn to doge them.
- Suggestions for improvement It could improve on the graphics but the storyline was exelent.
- 2-3 things that you would like to learn how to do (in terms of functionality, design or content) I would like to know how to make things move.

CHOOSING A TOPIC assignments
1. Explore Subjects, Topics and Concepts that Matter to You
- Brainstorm specific topics and concepts in each subject area that you want to explore in a game. Think about something that is really hard to learn. How a game can help represent this complex concept, and explain it in a playful and experiential way.
- Now choose ONE Concept to Focus On: civics.
- What are the most important facts people should know about your topic? They need to know what there rights are.
- What actions should people do in order to understand this topic? They should study history and laws.
- What is a positive outcome that could happen if people learned more about this topic? They would know there rights so the canbe prepared for the real world.
2. Identify a Game Genre For Exploring Your Topic
- Genre 1: Shooter.
- Why I chose it: I chose it because they are fun to play so lots of kids would play it and learn.
- Genre 2: Platformer.
- Why I chose it: I chose it because I really enjoy them and it would be fun to make.
3. Find Content Resources for Your Game Topic
Find a set of online and real world resources where you can gather facts, images and sounds to use in your game.

- Real world resource: I could use a microphone and make my own sounds.
