PLAYING TO LEARN assignments

Pick two games you played before and write a review about each of them. Choose one professional and one student made game.

Review 1:

  • Name and purpose of the game The name of the game is Katrina:Temptest in the Cresent city. The purpose of the game is to show people what happens when hurricanes happen.
  • Describe it from a learner's point of view and a developer’s point of view The learner's point of view is you go out in the city and try to help people and rescue them and if you get through the round you go to the next level. The developer's point of view is to show people how important it is when a hurricane comes.
  • Design Analysis(Does it look good? Does it clearly illustrate the scientific the concept?)Yes,because it is very interesting and fun to play,it shows you what happens when a hurricane.
  • Usability Analysis (Is it clear what you need to do as a user? Does it work well?)Yes because it shows how bad a hurricane hits and it shows you how to prepare for a hurricane.
  • Suggestions for improvement It could be more hard.
  • 2-3 things that you would like to learn how to do (in terms of functionality, design or content)I would like to learn how to make a video game that is fun but yet educational.I also like to show people how important civics really is.

Review 2:

  • Name and purpose of the game The name is Free rice and the purpose is to help people who need food.
  • Describe it from a learner's point of view and a developer’s point of view I learnt that you can answer questions and if you get it right then you give ten pieces of rice to the hungry and once you get one hundred pieces of rice you move on to another level. I think the developer's point of view is to show people how important it is to feed the hungry.
  • Design Analysis (Does it look good? Does it clearly illustrate the scientific the concept?) It looks really good.I understand it that people need to help each other.
  • Usability Analysis (Is it clear what you need to do as a user? Does it work well?)It is clear that I can help everyone who need food.
  • Suggestions for improvement It could be more diffcult and the words could be more challenging.
  • 2-3 things that you would like to learn how to do (in terms of functionality, design or content)I would like to create a game that tells people that we need to help people that need food, and show how important it is to be a citizen.
