Topic summary: First you will request and set up your own Wiki User Account. Then you will design a personalized User Page with text, images, colors and video.Then you will set up a Social Profile that you can use for communicating with other wiki members.

Topic Assignments

Request and Set Up Your Own Wiki User Account

1. Go to the Request account page to request a new user account.

2. Type a user name We suggest the following: [FirstName]_[last 4 digets of WVEIS#] ex. Rachel_3765, your email address and your real name.

3. Click the request account button to submit your request.

4. Check your email for a message asking you to confirm your email address. Click the link in the email to confirm.

5. Look for a second email with a temporary password. Use that password to sign in to the wiki (you will be able to change it later.)

IMPORTANT: To help us protect your privacy throughout the WIKI, NEVER write your last name on any of the pages or files you upload.

Design a Personalized User Page

You must Log In to the Wiki in order to edit your User Profile page. This will bring up the "user" menu on the top of the screen.

1. Login and click on your Username to go to your User Profile page (a link to it will appear near the top of the screen.)

2. Edit your User Page (or any other Wiki page) by selecting the 'edit' tab on the top menu of the page.

3. This is YOUR personal space, so make it unique; Add color, links, photos and videos!

• Add text to introduce yourself. (Note: Be smart. Don't share any personal information (Last name, address, phone number, email, etc.) See the Privacy Policy for more tips.
• Add colors and fonts to your Wiki page.
• Upload an image you like to the wiki. (Note: After you upload an image, you can find it in the Image Gallery)
• Embed the image on your User page and write text to describe it.
• Add a link to your page.
• Add a Viddler video on your page.
• Try More Wiki Tips

Click "Save Page" OFTEN... and especially when you are done.

Set Up a Social Profile to Communicate With Other Wiki Users

In addition to your fully customizable User page, you also have a Social Profile page where you can interact with other wiki users.

1. Click the "My Social Profile" link on your User Page.

2. Fill in the "My Info" section - share some fun facts about yourself!

• Click the small "Edit this" link, next to the "My Info" subheading.
  
• Complete the form and click "Update" at the bottom of the page.
  

3. Add Your Own Avatar image (it will appear next to your name all over the wiki.)

• Upload an image you like from your desktop, or choose one from the Avatar gallery.
• Go back to your Social profile and click the "Update Avatar" link (at the right end of the row of text links at the top of the page.)
• Type the entire name of the image file (including .png or .jpg) in the box provided.
  
• Click "Save" to see your new avatar!

4. Find Some Friends

• Go to the User Gallery and click on the picture of another User you want to add as a friend.
• Click the "Add as a Friend" link near the top of their page. This user will be notified that you wish to be their wiki friend.
• When a User accepts your Friend request, you will be notified by email. That User's avatar and name will also appear on the Friends list on your Social profile.

5. Post a message on your Friend's Board

Each User has a board on the Social profile. You can leave messages for them and receive replies on your board. Experiment with this now by leaving a message for your new friend.

Asking Questions/ Getting help!

There are lots of ways to get help with any questions you have!

1. Use the Group Discussion to post questions to everyone in the Globaloria community. This is a good place to talk about your game ideas and to ask technical questions.
2. Use the User Gallery to find another person’s User profile page. "Talk" to that person directly by posting a message on the "discussion" tab of his/her user profile page.
3. Search the Wiki Tips for Frequently Ask Questions and answers.
