Write Your Game Idea in Flash
- Complete the Flash Text Basics tutorial to learn how to create text in Flash.
- Note: Do NOT continue on with the animation tutorials on that site! If you want to animate something, please refer to Adding Animations for more information.
- Make sure to follow these guidelines when writing your text:
- Use a font that is easy to read, like Times New Roman, Cambria, or Garamond. Avoid fonts that look like this (old-world style), this (script style), or this (titles-only font).
- Use dark text on a light background or vice-versa. Similarly-colored texts and backgrounds make things really hard to read.
- When you have lots of things to say, use numbered lists and bullet points!
- You can find additional tips on this page.
- The Adobe Kuler tool can help you select a color combination that is pleasing to the eye. Look around the site and find one or two color schemes that you like and might use in your presentation. Learn about how to use it here.
- Create a one frame Flash movie with a text field containing your game idea. Explain how the game will work and describe its background or learning objective. Write enough to fill at least one screen, about 100-200 words. Make it fun!
Update the Wiki
1. Save your file with this naming convention "YourUserName_GameIdea.fla"
2. Publish your .fla file to create an .swf version of it.
- Remember, the .SWF file is the Flash movie you created. Upload it to show your work!
- The .FLA file is the source code of the movie. Upload it and let others learn from your code!
3. Upload the .fla and .swf file to the wiki.
4. Embed both the files in the "Mini Game" section of your "My Projects" page. Follow the instructions on that page.
