VideographyMarch 8-12, 2010Classtime and during schoolStudents are creating a video to be used at the upcoming BOE/LSIC Presentation. The theme is "Learning..." Students will be filming classes and activities in order to show a representation of West's assets.
Are you paying attention? March 3, 2010 Homework On the website for "Games for Change", http://www.gamesforchange.org/ there is a posting about a conference. The posting by Hsing Wei on 02-14-10 said ' The conversation around the impact of games often focuses on how much transfer there is between a player’s game experience and his/her real life beliefs and behaviors. ARGs (alternative reality games) are often designed to jump that step and move players into real world action during game play.' Please comment on this and how it pertains to your game design on your blog by next Tuesday.

Putting Everything Together Monday-Friday (Dec14-18, 2009)Classtime Students are multi-tasking by alternating Flash programming for their games and editing the two videos they have created.
Visitor! Wednesday (Dec9, 2009)--- David Lowenstein will be dropping by to visit with students. Drat! He had to reschedule due to nasty weather!
Videography (cont'd) Monday-Friday (Dec7-11, 2009)--- This week students are finishing filming then editing their video footage.
Videography Monday-Friday (Nov 30 - Dec 4)--- This week students are working on videos requested by school administrators
Break! Monday-Friday (Nov.23-27, 2009)--- Turkey time!
Prototypes This week on "As the Globaloria World Turns at GWHS"/ Monday-Friday 6hrs+ Students are finalizing their paper prototypes to be filmed. By Friday students are to film,upload, and embed their paper prototypes to their team pages!!!
webex and NovAcademy Thursday evening @5:00PM/ Friday-Sunday --- webex (attended by Mrs.Neal while Mrs.Leef on way to Charleston; November Academy (Mrs.Leef attended) Friday-Saturday 8:30AMto8:30PM; Sunday 8:30AMto4:30PM
Prototyping the Game! Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 11/09-13/09 6hrs Students re-worked their game ideas and presented to the class and Mr. Auvil last Friday. This week students should be viewing paper-prototyping examples from other schools and work toward their own paper-prototypes to be ready for videography on Monday November 16, 2009.
Action Script, New Games, and Videography Wednesday-Friday 11/04-06/09 4.5hrs Students will be given time to work on ActionScript individually and also work in their groups toward beginning their approved game prototpyes. Students will also be given time to further develop thier proposed videos on "Dress Code" and "Cell Phones".
Game Idea Presentations Tuesday 11/03/09 1.5hrs Students will practice their presentations at the beginning of the block then present their (3) chosen game prototype ideas. Good luck teams!
Showcasing GWHS! Monday 11/02/09 1.5hrs Students will "artfully" re-design the display cabinets to showcase school accomplishments. (Students will be given the project of showcasing school accomplishments for school and community to see and enjoy.)
Game Prototypes Tuesday-Friday 10/27-30/09 6hr Students are working in their teams to brainstorm at least (3) ideas to present to the class as their game projects. Students will present their ideas to the class.
MiniGame Monday 10/26/09 1.5hrs Verifying progress/completion of MiniGame so students can proceed to next assignments in Globaloria Course Schedule, students will work on this until basics of the game is complete and students have full working knowledge of Flash so they can design their games.
Team pages and "Housekeeping" cont'd Monday 10/19/09 ---- Students were instructed to do some catch up work on Friday. Some of this work has not been completed. Incomplete tasks will be discussed and "shored-up" in class on Monday.
team pages and "Housekeeping" Friday 10/16/09 1.5hrs Students created team pages, updated wikis, profiles, and blogs today; All were instructed to work on their "dood" status by updating all Globaloria components covered to date; A little competition was started to see how many "top 10" updates to the wiki edits could be logged by Monday....go...go...go Globaloria!
team pages Friday 10/16/09 1.5hrs Go to Planning Your Game and follow the directions for ONE person from the team to request your team page. Other members of the team then need to read the page and follow the directions to be placed on the team page
More Teambuilding 10-9 to 10-16Classtime & out of school Check out Mrs. Neal's blog for the posted Question of the Week, respond on your own blog. You also need to go to these websites to learn how to develop your team logo: dryicons:All Graphic Design ; Vector Then work on developing your mini-game; use the mini game page as your tutorial to learn how to use and develop your action script talents.

Blogging 9-25-09 as needed Before working in Flash today, go to Mrs. Neal's blog and read the posting and follows the directions there. Then you can go back to learning about Flash!Check out this site Cool Tools for Schools, I haven't been able to check out all of it but it looks like a really cool site!

Drawing in Flash 9-22-09 6 hrs Introduction to Flash - students go to Course Schedule page and click on Drawing in Flash. Read through the page, go through the tutorials, follow directions carefully, don't shortcut or skim!!. Post your progress on your Learning Log page. Remember, this is the way you get credit for what you do!
Playing to Learn Sept 15-18 6 hrs Look at the games on the Globaloria site and write reviews on their project page.
