[edit] HELLO AND WELCOME
This spring, at the American University in DC, Brian Judy teaches an introductory course about computer-game theory, methods, and practice. Students learn to use Flash animation and programming to create their own web-based playful interactions and simple educational games (at beginner and intermediate levels). Course Readings and Projects cover various aspects of computer-game production, current thought, alternative designs, and application. (Prerequisite: AU-COMM-350/650 Digital Imaging and Design.)
- The AU Intro to Games Website and Wiki
For the first time at AU, in collaboration with the World Wide Workshop Foundation, Brian Judy and his students are using a beta version of MyGlobalLife.org free platforms and tools. It's a socio-educational network for social change, designed an an open participation architecture, in a Web 2.0 spirit, for anyone worldwide who wants to learn how to design games with social purpose and help others do the same.
- During the semester, the class will:
- Utilize a special version of this Game-Design platform, with all its resources, tutorials, and games;
- Use this Class Blog
- Collaborate by using this Class Wiki
- Assess capabilities, customize everything for their own processes, and at the same time contribute to improving it.
