Tonight, your job is to Dream Ideas… but in Flash… Write them down, sketch a few screens....in your head and on paper is OK. Bring them tomorrow morning with you. We’ll collect and share our ideas tomorrow.

Base your ideas on the MyGLife.org Flash applications… Think about your design ideas and how you may want to develop them during the workshop…(and afterwards)…what will users learn from your application? Try to teach them something new.

First Think Big. Then Think Small. As beginners, we can only execute a small piece of the big idea…but the big idea is our guide. Good night!

Personal Workout 2: Animating with Flash

This one will make all the designers in the group very happy...

Weekly Workout #2: Making Flash Animations (Due November 23).

Give it a try -- you will be creating smooth, engaging animations in no time. Animation is one of the strengths of Macromedia Flash; you can use it to create catchy text effects, online cartoons, and other cool types of moving art (all of these things would look great in your next project ;).

Personal Workout 3: Adding Sounds to Your Flash Apps

This week's Flash Workout will help you take your favorite music and sound effects (even stuff you record.....like your own voice, or your cat meowing) and put them into your Flash games and apps. You could make a little mp3 player of all your favorite sounds: your family, your street, your school....anything! This workout will teach you a few different ways to make it happen. I have recommended some places to get sounds if you don't want to record any.....maybe your crazy high-tech phones have a microphones built-in? (i definetely know they have big SPEAKERS.....you could throw a mini-party with those things!). Check it out, and start making beautiful music with Flash today!

Personal Workout 4: Making It Smaller (Optimization)

This week's Flash Workout is a very useful one: it will be a great help to anyone trying to keep the filesize of their work very SMALL, without losing too much QUALITY. Keep in mind that any website is made up of many (GODOL! -thanks ifat) smaller images, sounds, scripts, and other file formats....pretty soon it can add up to LONG DOWNLOAD TIMES for your internet audience. After you finish this workout, you will be a pro at MAKING IT SMALLER.

Personal Workout 5: Cool Art Effects Pt. 1--Masking

In this week's Flash Workout, you are going to learn one of my favorite effects in Flash and Photoshop. It is called "MASKING," and it is like taking a stencil and placing it over an image or movie so that only certain parts are visible. It is an awesome effect, and it is used to make some of the coolest websites and applications on the internet. Let's do a 5 minute workout....and you can learn this cool trick to use in your own artwork.
